Live Ocean Racing continues to build momentum in ETF26 Grand Prix

Live Ocean Racing continues to sit in fifth position out of eight teams overall in its second weekend of racing in the ETF26 Eurocat Grand Prix in France.

With Jo Aleh, Alex Maloney, Molly Meech and Erica Dawson competing in French Olympic Week, Liv Mackay was joined on board by Marcus Hansen and Leo Takahashi.

Final results included –

Day one: 5, 4, 3

Day two: 3

Day 3: 5, 5, 3, 4, 3

Mixing competition up on day two, the teams competed in a two and a half hour 20 mile ‘Grand Raid’ event along the coast, where Live Ocean Racing crossed the line in third.

“We went out around an island, round some rocks and past some crazy seascapes at some points. It was 8-15 knot winds, a long race but so much fun mixing racing up and trying something different,” said Liv Mackay.

Speaking about the team’s last day of racing, Mackay said, “We had good speeds today but still had a few struggles on the starts. I’m really happy with all the learnings from today, it was our first day racing with the reef and in different conditions, so it felt like we were really fast which was exciting.”

There are three more events in the ETF26 Grand Prix circuit which be sailed in France and Italy. Next up is Raid Quiberon, France starting 4 – 6 June.
